Gaia Diletta Bottacin (Venice, 11 February 1990) graduated in Visual Arts and Theatre at IUAV in Venice, she attended a master’s degree in Fashion Styling at IED in Rome and actually works as art director for the emerging brand EDITHMARCEL.

Her illustrations are a serial search in a constant state of becoming, a process designed to capture a particular idea of beauty, represented by the faces of haughty and distant women. This project was born from her obsession for faces and the harmony of the shapes, from the sharp and defined features of the subjects, recounted on paper through precise traits of black marker and red pen. Cheekbones, nose, lips and eyes, undergo a process of abstraction and are represented, rather than as anatomical details, as geometric forms that create a real architecture, the so-called “volto” (face), a word that recalls the precise name of the ceilings of palaces, churches and cathedrals. Great inspirations for her work are the photographs of Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott with their sleek style and surreal atmospheres.
