Abdelatif reached Spain on a boat 15 years ago, and found work in a small town near Madrid. A year ago he was forced to report his employer to the Ministry of Labor because he was not being payed. The result, he says, was an expulsion order. He has spent the last year trying to get his old life back. “This is the house of the people,” he jokes often, “here all who do not have a place are welcome.”
