Andy Massaccesi è un fotografo con base a Senigallia (An). Vive, lavora e studia tra la costa adriatica e il Montefeltro dove sta conseguendo il diploma all’ISIA (Istituto Superiore Industrie Artistiche) di Urbino, in progettazione grafica e comunicazione visiva.
Il suo percorso di immagini nasce proprio con gli studi universitari e si sviluppa attorno ad una ricerca sociologica del soggetto in superficie (animato o non), che attraverso la complicità della camera cerca di descrivere il contesto più profondo e la (non)realtà fotografica. Attualmente coniuga l’attività di ricerca/reportage personale, con le prime commissioni per brands e riviste di moda.
Andy Massaccesi is an italian photographer based in in Senigallia (AN) He lives, works and studies between adriatic cost and Montefeltro, where he’s attending ad BA degree in Editorial Design and Photography at ISIA Urbino (High Institute of Graphic Design). His course through the images comes to life right during the university years and was developed around a social reasearch on the surfacing subject (animated and not), which through the complicity of the camera tries to describe the deepest context and the photographic (urn)reality. At the moment he’s combining the activity of personal research and reportage archive with the first works for brands and fashion magazines.
SACRED BORDERS
Posto geograficamente e religiosamente ai bordi d’Europa e della cristianità, l’Azerbaijan non è solo un fertile terreno per oro nero e gas, ma anche un paese estremamente curioso ed orientato verso una società occidentale, così vicina territorialmente ma anche così lontana per tradizioni e cultura. La frenetica capitale Baku, con quasi la metà della popolazione presente nel territorio, si pone in contrasto ad un sedentario provincialismo islamico che sembra avvolgere la restante parte del paese. I bordi delle inquadrature, le trame grafiche, i pesi dell’immagine sembrano accentuare una sensazione di equilibrio sociale e politico in perenne dinamismo. Non è, insomma, “tutto Petrolio quello che luccica”; La popolazione azera, fortemente patriottica e orgogliosa della sua storia è coinvolta in questo “quasi inesorabile” andamento, che se da una parte sembra affacciarsi verso il progresso, dall’altra trova ostacoli in una società “Islamico-Sovietica”, in pieno boom economico ma ancora in affanno nel trovare la sua identità democratica.
Located at the borders of Christianity both in a geographilly and religiously way, Azerbaijan is not just a prolific land for black gold and gas, but also a very curious place that winks to the west society, so close in the maps but also so far in traditions and culture. Baku, the frenetic capital, hosts half the country’s population and remark a difference between the rest of the country, so isolated in its Islamic way of life. The frames perimeters, textures and the pics weights seem to accentuate a social and political balance that is actually in everlasting dynamism. ‘Is not oil all that glitter’: Azerbaijani people are so strongly patriotic and proud of their history that are now facing this development in a strange way; a new line on the horizon of progress stocked by an ‘Islamic-soviet’ society where the hardest part is to struggle against the to find a democratic self portrait.
