The Landscape Photographer of the Year 2017

For the fourth time, The International Landscape Photographer of the Year has opened the selections and it’s now possible to submit your works until the 12th of November, or until the 19th at most.

[dropcap]E[/dropcap]very year the jury selects 101 of the best landscape photographs for the past two year approximately and collects them into a book, printed by Momento Pro, as well as being rewarded as best single photographs and best portfolio of four photographs. The book will a special coffee table book in various formats, including also an e-book. The winners will also recieve US$10,000 cash, Epson Printers (Epson is the new sponsor), trophies, limited-edition copies of the awards book and large framed prints of winning images.

The jury gathers five of the best photographers and industry professionals of the world, and the names are:

David Burnett, co-founder Contact Press Images, USA
Tim Parkin, ON LANDSCAPE Magazine Editor
Alex Noriega, 2016 International Landscape Photographer of the Year
Kaye Davis, NZIPP Grand Master of Photography
Jim M Goldstein, Fine Art Photographer and Author, USA

There will also be some special awards that change every year and for this edition there will be the Snow & Ice Award, the Abstract Aerial Award, the Long Exposure Award, Exemplary Tree Award and the Mountainous Award.

Something more about the jury.

David Burnett is an American photographer. Born in 1946 at Salt Lake City. He became the last photojournalist, who covered the Vietnam war for Life Magazine. He has been in more than 70 countries and is the co-founder of Contact Prress Images with Robert Pledge. In 1973 David won the Robert Capa Gold Medal, the 1979 World Press Photo Premier Award, the Overseas Press Club of America’s Olivier Rebbot “Best Reporting from Abroad in Magazines and Books” Award in 1984, and a first prize in the World Press Photo in 2005.

Tim Parkin is an English photographer with a PhD in computational engineering and editor of ON Landscape Magazine. He is a landscape photographer and mixes digital and film, in small or large formats.

Alex Noriega is a full-time landscape photographer, currently based in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. In 2016 he won three awards: the International Landscape Photographer of the Year, USA Landscape Photographer of the Year and International Pano Awards Photographer of the Year. His photos have appeared in various numbers of publications.

Kaye Davis is a freelance photographer, with 20 years of experience in fashion and design industry. She is now working as a full-time Senior Lecturer on the Bachelor of Applied Visual Imaging (UCOL, Palmerston North, New Zealand). Kaye also writes a regular column for The Photographer’s Mail, as an international judge on the NZIPP Board and as current Chair of the NZIPP Honours Council.

Jim M Goldstein is based in San Francisco, California, and he’s a full-time professional photographer. He is a member of the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP).
